Surface Treatment

Surface treatment is an alternative hard surfacing option for road or parking lot construction.

The process consists of fine grading and compacting the stone base and the application of a layer of emulsion and a 3/8” clear stone that is rolled. A second application of emulsion and chip stone is then immediately placed over the first. After an initial period of cure time (usually two weeks), loose aggregate is swept off the freshly surfaced road. Finished results, provide a stabilized road or parking lot surface that is considerably less in cost than conventional asphalt paving.

Asphalt Emulsion

Asphalt emulsion is a mixture of water, asphalt cement and an emulsified agent. It is applied with a computerized distributor truck, followed by stone application placed through a computerized chip spreader.

Immediately following stone placement, rolling of material takes place with both a rubber-tired roller and a steel drum roller
