Recycled Asphalt Paving
At Circle P Paving, we manufacture a cold emulsified asphalt material called RAP. This process involves taking either previous milled or chunk asphalt and crushing, screening, and stockpiling the material. Once processed, the material is tested through an outside laboratory to determine the inherent asphalt cement contained within the stockpile.
Once these results are known, the material is put through a pugmill, where emulsion is introduced and blended with the crushed product. This process is known as Cold Central Plant Recycling. The resultant product can be used as a stabilized base asphalt alternative to conventional hot mix placement or simply surface treated (tar and chip) over. The product is placed through a regular asphalt paver and has all the characteristics of hot mix asphalt, save for colour and cost. Either way, Recycled Asphalt Paving, offers a cost affordable option to customers and is environmentally friendly as it is composed of 100% recycled asphalt.
